The staff at Prosocial Science do not need to know who you are.  You register using only your email address, and basic demographic information such as age, sex, your country, and so on.  Using your name is optional.  Credit card information is not required to register, and it costs nothing while we collect normative data.  No spam or advertising will result from your registration, nor will your information be shared with any other person or entity.  Registration is only necessary so that you can update your SCIT profile and access your reports at any time in the future.

After you have satisfied yourself that you understand what the test is all about, you have the option of taking the SCIT.  Remember, nobody knows who you are.

There are two forms of the SCIT:  one for women, and one for men.  To complete the SCIT, you must answer every question, and answer truthfully.  You may not skip any questions.  Keep in mind that you are not taking the SCIT for someone else; you are taking it for YOU.

The SCIT will take approximately 20 minutes to complete.  When you have completed the test, you will be offered a report that you can print.  The report tells you what your scores were for several factors, and your scores are compared to the scores produced by other people of your sex who have also completed the SCIT (the sample).  For each factor, the SCIT will show you a percentile score, showing you what proportion of the sample scored higher than you, and how many scored lower than you – in other words, how common or atypical your responses are.

You may only complete the SCIT once every three months.  This being said, if you complete the SCIT again, your data will be recalculated because more people of your sex will have completed the SCIT and your data may change.  Because you have registered, only you will have access to your results.

WARNING:  The SCIT is assessing intimacy, but it is also assessing sexual interests.  You will likely be asked some questions about interests that you might find distasteful; remember, if the SCIT only asked questions that everyone answered the same way, it would tell us nothing.

The SCIT is a tool.  It is a tool for YOU.
